Accounts Assistant - part time

My client specialise in the supply, installation and maintenance of electrical solutions for various commercial and industrial customers across the country. They now have an exciting opportunity for a part time Accounts Assistant to join them on a permanent part time basis (with the opportunity to become full time down the line), to work 25 - 30 hours per week, paying between £10 and £13 per hour depending on experience. 

The role is varied but includes reviewing and reconciling accounts, processing payments to external partners and maintaining updated records of invoices and receipts. Key duties include:

  • Processing purchase invoice/credit notes
  • Identifying and addressing discrepancies
  • Reconciling financial statements
  • Updating internal accounting databases and spreadsheets
  • Contacting clients and sending reminders to ensure timely payments
  • Processing Sub-contractors payments
  • HMRC-CIS-Construction Industry Scheme
  • Processing invoices and receipts
  • Processing and validating staff expense claims
  • Supporting bank reconciliation
  • Building labour hours ready for payments 
  • Office telephone cover as required
  • Assisting with general office administration as required
  • Booking in delivery notes

To be considered for the role you must have a solid financial or accounting background and be familiar with bookkeeping. You must also:

  • Have experience of Sage 50 Accounts and Payroll *Essential*
  • Be comfortable working as part of a small close-knit team
  • Be computer literate with advanced working knowledge of and use of spreadsheets
  • Be experienced in raising, inputting, matching, batching and coding of invoices
