Community Safety Officer

JT Recruit is working in partnership with the local authority here in the City of Derby and looking to appoint on a temporary basis for up to 9 months a Community Safety Officer within the Community Safety & Integration Team to respond to neighbourhood community safety issues and operationally deliver interventions, casework and problem-solving activities to reduce levels of anti-social behaviour and crime. 

The work is challenging but also highly rewarding, as a Community Safety Officer you need to be dedicated, enthusiastic, and focused. Working with key stakeholders and partners to protect those visiting, living, and working in the City of Derby. Responding to neighbourhood community safety issues and operationally managing casework and delivering interventions, and problem-solving activities to reduce levels of anti-social behaviour and crime.

Duties will also include:

Develop, implement, and monitor effective interventions to tackle and reduce anti-social behaviour and crime

Gather appropriate information and intelligence in relation to statutory court orders and present applications in the court

Develop and implement city-wide projects in response to the SIA and any other emerging risk and threats, including cyber related crime and gangs and organised crime

Work in partnership with key partners to deliver effective ASB and crime interventions

Ensure that ASB, crime and interventions engage and communicate with local communities and elected members

Engage and communicate with communities to increase their sense of feeling safe

Collect and share community intelligence in key service areas with partners

Maintain up to date records and compliance with data protection and appropriate disclosure of sensitive information and intelligence

Implement support and interventions in relation to victims of crime and anti-social behaviour

Prepare reports for court and contribute to the criminal justice process, including court attendance as appropriate

Ensure all work reflects the Council’s corporate objectives and commitment to services based on best value and quality, equality of opportunity and a sustainable environment.

Comply with all City Council Policies, including contractual standing orders, financial regulations, and the departmental scheme of financial management.

Comply with confidentiality and data protection requirements.

Comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council’s safety policy.

Comply with the Customer Care Code.

Adhere to Council’s policies relating to Equalities and Environmental issues

You will be required to successfully pass the enhanced police vetting process, and it is essential to have knowledge of Court, Social Care, and safeguarding processes.
