Support Worker - Supported Living

My client are looking for compassionate and empathetic Support Workers to join their supported living team in Northamptonshire, to work across their accommodations in Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough. 

In the supported living setting, you will be supporting between one to five adults with learning disabilities. As part of your role, you will be dealing with challenging behaviour, refocusing service users onto better aspects in their lives, all the while offering guidance to them which will enable them to live independently in their own home. 

Previous experience is desirable but not essential as training will be provided, along with an induction process which includes various interviews and trial shifts in order to give those new to care a chance to gain confidence in the role. 

Salary will be dependent on experience but starts from £8.91ph, plus time and a half for bank holidays. Holiday is 28 days prorata with no cap on accrual on overtime. 

There are Team Leader opportunities available for more experienced and qualified candidates.

Shifts are on a rota basis Monday - Sunday:

08.00-15:00

15.00-22.00

22.00-08.00 (sleep in)

You will receive award winning in house training as well as enrollment on to the Care Certificate and Level 2 or 3 in the Diploma for Health and Social Care, in line with your job role.

Your role will be varied but will include:

  • Overseeing day trips outside of residences where appropriate
  • Personal care as required
  • Ensuring that all domestic tasks are carried out
  • Overseeing/arranging food shopping for those in residence and allocating the cost to the clients via online management software
  • Preparing and serving meals and providing adequate supervision and support where service users are preparing their own food and drink
  • Administering prescribed and non-prescribed medications
  • Assisting clients in handling their personal allowances and keeping accurate records of cash transactions 
  • Recording events and appointments online
  • Reporting immediately to the manager any illnesses, unusual behaviour etc 
  • Acting as keyworker for a service user/group of service users
