Unit Nurse Manager

My client are a national care provider who support older people with varying needs including dementia and mental health, as well as providing accommodation and support for those requiring assisted living.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join one of their beautiful residential homes in Yeovil which provides care for both older people as well as a facility for younger people living with physical disabilities as a Unit Nurse Manager on a full time and permanent basis.

You must be flexible to work 12 hour shifts (days and nights) on a rota basis, 44 hours per week, and will be rewarded with competitive rate of pay, 28 days holiday and auto enrolment into NEST. 

You will lead, plan, manage, direct and monitor the delivery of high quality nursing care to residents and maintain professional and clinical standards and strive for continuous clinical improvement.

The role is varied but includes:

  • Supporting the registered nurses, care practitioners and carers in the home with clinical advice
  • Maintaining good working relationships with the regulators, social services and any other external regulatory body
  • Visiting each resident each day whilst on duty and ensuring appropriate nursing care is being delivered
  • Allocating an appropriate key worker to each resident on admission
  • Supporting the senior clinical staff in the home and assisting or leading any clinical investigations or complaints as required
  • Managing stock levels and replenishment of all appropriate clinical supplies
  • Ensuring all staff meet the required standard for care planning, implementing, evaluating and accurately recording all care interventions
  • Preparing staff rots 
  • Ensuring all clinical staff comply with the NMC code at all times

To be considered for this post you must:

  • Have a current NMC registration 
  • Have good knowledge of the most up to date clinical practices
  • Have experience of producing well developed care plans and detailed risk assessments
  • Have an understanding of regulatory frameworks including DoLs/MCA and Royal Pharmaceutical guidelines
  • Have a teaching/mentoring/supervision qualification
  • Have a successful track record of managing safeguarding investigations and clinical risk assessments
  • Be compassionate, resilient and determined to delivery quality care
