Electrical Estimator

My client specialise in the supply, installation and maintenance of electrical solutions for various commercial and industrial customers across the country. They now have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Estimator to join them on a full time and permanent basis, paying up to £42k depending on experience. Working hours are Monday - Thursday 8am - 5pm and Friday 8am - 4pm.

You will be working alongside the estimating team to maximise potential growth opportunities. You will support the managers in the estimation of the electrical element of tenders. You will be required to liaise with Boni-fidi sub-contractors and material suppliers in order to establish best price and service.

You will be rewarded with an excellent rate of pay, company car, private healthcare, further learning and development, pension scheme and 22 days holiday (plus bank holidays).

Duties will include:

  • Establishing new quotation by understanding job specifications and drawings
  • Accurately calculating quantity take-offs from drawings
  • Accurately producing material and labour labour take-offs
  • Understanding the planning and sequencing of construction of projects
  • Communicating with clients to clarify unclear specifications, wordings, through RFI's
  • Coordinating with sub-contractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing used for bid submissions
  • Participating in site reviews, tender reviews, tender hand-off, and project closing meetings as needed
  • Quantifying variations with clients, submitting prices and communicating with confirmation of agreements
  • Closing open projects with delivery of O&M manuals
  • Supporting Bid Managers to run job boards for all live projects
  • Liaising with client on variations and claims
  • Attending site/tender walkthroughs to cross reference drawings to identify proactive solutions and avoiding potential site interferences where required 

In order to be considered, you must:

  • Come from an Electrical Contracting background with experience of Electrical Installation
  • Have a good understanding of electrical regulations 
  • Be able to manage your own workload and work under pressure
  • Be an excellent communicator
  • Be confident to liaise with clients in a professional manner
  • Be skilled in MS Office, word and excel
  • Have a full, clean driving licence 
  • Experience within the construction industry would be ideal
