Field Operative

My client are looking for a Field Operative to join them on a full time but temporary contract working Monday - Friday paying £10.62 per hour. 

You will be part of a team maintaining highways, footpaths and structures including; quick response; general maintenance; drainage; road-mender; gully emptying; camera van; occasional construction and surfacing. 

You must be a driver with access to your own vehicle in order to travel to other sites if/when needed.

The role will include:

• Kerb laying, footway and carriageway construction, excavations, drainage, block paving, slabbing, brickwork to manholes, routing gully emptying, attend to drainage problems, laying bitumen, spreading, levelling and laying of materials to lines and levels, and support on Construction and Surfacing activities
• Driving/operating specialist plant to perform all highways operations, and use equipment such as saws, compaction equipment etc
• Carrying out daily routine maintenance to appropriate vehicle and plant
• Using appropriate equipment and procedures to detect and locate underground services to protect operatives and prevent damage to apparatus 

To be considered for the role you must:

• Have experience of working in a highways or civil engineering environment 
• Be able to take measurements and calculate quantities 
• Have experience using IT eg PDS
• Have experience of using underground detection equipment
• Have extensive knowledge of construction specifications, materials, compaction and workmanship requirements
• Have extensive knowledge of safe working practices when using plant and machinery
• Have knowledge of Chapter 8 traffic management regulations
