Maintenance Officer

My Nottingham-based client, who specialise in providing supported living services and accommodation to vulnerable young people, are looking for an experienced Maintenance Officer to join them on a full time, permanent basis. Working 37.5 hours per week (Monday - Friday), paying £9 per hour. 


This role does involve travel, and you must have your own van and tools for this position. 


The purpose of the role is to support the Maintenance Manager and other Officers in all aspects of the maintenance function of the company. Roles and responsibilities of which will include:

  • Setting up new properties with all relevant furniture, equipment and tools
  • Facilitating property moves for young people in a safe and responsive manner
  • Prioritising incoming maintenance requests and communicating well with all parties involved to ensure access to the property is available and is safe
  • Ensuring that all health and safety related issues are responded to appropriately
  • Striving to ensure that the quality of work is always to a high standard to maintain the quality of the property 
  • Conducting routine inspections of premises and equipment
  • Performing preventative maintenance to reduce any hazards/risks
  • Handling basic repairs and maintenance
  • Overseeing contractors when professional repairs are necessary 
  • Diagnosing issues accurately and correcting them 
  • Repairing furniture, equipment, or structures as necessary 
  • Painting, plastering, gardening, general plumbing, general electrical, joinery, tiling, hanging doors, fitting door frames, brickwork, fencing, paving, lock fitting/changing, handles, replacing windows, roof patching, removing rubbish, general cleaning, pointing brickwork, lifting etc as required

To be considered, you must:

  • Be skilled in the use of hand and power tools
  • Be experienced with precision measuring instruments or electronic testing devices
  • Be able to check blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogues as necessary
  • Be able to safely use common tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills and wrenches
  • Be experienced with precision measuring instruments or electronic testing devices 
  • Be experienced in performing routine maintenance
  • Have strong organisational and follow up skills
  • Have a keen eye for detail
  • Have a professional attitude and be well presented
  • Have strong time management skills and be able to maintain focus while working individually
  • Have a full UK driving licence, your own van and own tools
