Manual Machinist

Our client is looking for a vibrant, happy, driven and ambitious 'Manual Machinist ' looking for their next big step working for a spectacular American blue-chip company based from their company based in Derby to work on a full-time and possibly leading permanent basis.

The successful candidate will be part of the UK NDT/Materials Testing team. The company has a network of more than 1,000 laboratories and offices and over 43,000 people in more than 100 countries that delivers innovative and bespoke Assurance, Testing, Inspection and Certification solutions for our customers’ operations and supply chains.

Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate will need to be able to work a 2 shift rota Monday to Friday.

The industries that the candidate will be working with are aerospace, rail, transport, oil and gas, power generation, both nuclear and conventional, submarine, foundries, fabrication and construction. They will also have a background in non-destructive testing or Low volume manufacturing.

Main duties associated with the role:

• To be able to read a detailed job/process sheets.

• To be fully conversant with reading and understanding basic engineering drawings.

• Be able to operate and show experience of working more than one of the following machine tools: Centre Lathes, Milling machine, bandsaw, Surface Grinding

• Must have good knowledge of tooling used on machines.

• Experience of machining a variety of materials used in engineering.

• Able to programme CNC machine tools or if no knowledge of particular operating system, willing to learn.

• Be able to complete in writing every day, documentation that is relevant to our business such as job sheets, Inspection reports and Time sheets etc.

• Keep the machine tools, the workshop and the working area clean and safe.

• Undertake other duties that will improve the working environment or assist other areas needing help.
