Metal Fabricator Supervisor

  •  JT Recruit are looking for a Metal Fabricator Supervisor on behalf of our client in Bingham, Nottinghamshire.  


As a Metal Fabricator Supervisor, you will supervise the manufacturing team and reporting to the Safety Steps Manager and MD. The main role and responsibilities of a Metal Fabricator Supervisor include, but are not limited to, the following:


  • Supervises fabrication and paint department
  • Coordinates staffing, workload with production schedule
  • Ensure compliance to all quality related policies, procedures and system requirements.
  • Monitor the fabrication attainments to determine whether or not targets are met
  • Start each shift on time and ensure all team members are present and assigned work in order of priority to meet on time delivery.
  • Must be able to read and understand engineering blueprints and plans
  • Follow detailed assembly instructions, processes and procedures
  • Use a variety of tools to work with metal
  • Operate cutting saws to cut various metals, and weld and grind fabricated structures to meet structural requirements
  • Perform detailed quality checks to ensure that it meets all standards and requirements
  • Document work and results, keep records of labour and materials used
  • Lift and move materials and finished products
  • Set up face blocks, jigs and fixtures
  • Tack-weld fitted parts together
  • Operate grinding equipment, welding equipment, cutting equipment as well as other steel fabricating methods
  • Provide procedural training
  • Work extended hours as needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Health & Safety Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and enforce safe working practices in accordance with company policy and legislative requirements
  • Ensure proper and regular use of personal protective equipment
  • Through communication, make staff aware of any existing, new or modified safety hazards
  • Report known or suspected equipment or procedural deficiencies to the appropriate Manager
  • Communicate and make available information to inform staff of all new or modified safety initiatives
  • Assist in accident investigations, corrective measure implementation and facility audits if required
  • Participate in required training


  • Strong leader and ability to communicate effectively the direction of the company
  • Ability to problem solve and enable a smooth flow of production
  • Strong communication skills when liaising with management leaders within the organisation
  • Ability to understand oral and written instructions of a technical nature
  • Effective English reading and writing communication skills
  • Ability to operate different tools, and to troubleshoot equipment problems
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Ability to lift in excess of fifty pounds
  • Ability to work on multiple priorities with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to use hand and power tools and equipment
  • Ability to work with all levels of employees
  • Strong communication skills, problem solving skills
  • Minimum 3-5 years of structural steel production experience (In a supervisory role would be an advantage)
  • A trade related NVQ 2 and a current CSCS card would be an advantage
