Wheelchair Service Engineer

Specialist Wheelchairs Service Engineer required for our well established client based in Walton Summit

Salary: £26,000 - £30,000 pa

Hours: Full time 40 hrs per week, Monday - Friday 

Job purpose:

Responsibility for the scheduled & emergency maintenance, repair and rectification of all types of manual and powered wheelchairs and associated equipment to end users, charities and businesses.

To give market leading level of service and backup to all of our customers, and to develop new business through a planned approach, making use of professional networking and our current wheelchair team.

Areas of accountability:

  • Ensure all KPI targets including financial and customer metrics are met.
  • Manage own diary and calls in order to achieve personal targets within given timescales
  • Expedite the resolution of issues and faults to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Promote, manage, and maximise regular preventative service plans.
  • Diagnose, repair, service and maintain specialist manual wheelchairs, powered wheelchairs, and powered wheelchair add-ons.
  • Deliver basic specialist wheelchair products to customers making sure the client understands how to use their product safely and correctly.
  • Ensure engineering and repair work is carried out thoroughly and safely within the manufacturer’s recommended guidelines.
  • Asset manage company vehicle ensuring all daily and weekly checks are complete and reported to line manager.
  • Maintain, clean and keep secure all demonstration stock.
  • Build relationships, working with colleagues from around the business to ensure all opportunities are explored.
  • As required, carry out industry training including product awareness and commercial movements within the marketplace.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with key suppliers in order to ensure their continued support.
  • Keep abreast of best practices, competition and industry trends.
  • Flexibility beyond wheelchair maintenance to include other areas of the business as required, such as LOLER testing, & general mobility product servicing.

Knowledge, skills and experience required:

  • Mechanical or Electrical background, able to demonstrate proficient problem solving techniques
  • Full Driving License, preferably clean & ability to undertake driving throughout territory
  • Highly motivated and good technical knowledge is a must
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Prioritising, time management and organisational skills
