JT Recruit are currently looking for an experienced EHC Senior Practitioner for our public sector client in Nottingham, this will be to work within the performance and complaints department. The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping to shape the lives of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities within Nottinghamshire.

Working hours are Monday to Friday 08:30am – 16:30pm with the flexibility of being able to work remotely.

Your main roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Record and monitor the progress of complaints and ensure timescales are met.
  • Investigate and draft the response to Stage 1 complaints on behalf of the Team Manager, stage 2 complaints for the Service Manager and make recommendation for immediate case worker action.
  • Highlight any practice/malpractice and/or policy issues emerging as a result of the complaints work undertaken.
  • Coordinate complaints on behalf of the service, including the contribution of partners and agencies e.g., social care and health and be responsible for organising and servicing the ICDS Complaints Panel.
  • Help to resolve complaints effectively at an early stage and, where this is not possible, ensure timely escalation.
  • Provide a point of contact for the Council’s Complaints and Compliments Service.
  • Ensure learning from complaints and compliments is collected and shared and contributes to continuous service improvement.
  • Support the work of responding to legal representatives in relation to Pre-Judicial Review Action letters and the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman (LGSO), including working with relevant staff to prepare information required.
  • Support the response to complex complaints, working with the relevant case holder and manager to promote ownership and learning.
  • Investigate and respond to enquiries from MP’s and Elected Members and ensure these are linked back to case work management.
  • Ensure staff are compliant with recording requirements for administrative, service improvement, legislative and statistical purposes.
  • Provide training for managers and staff across ICDS in relation to complaints handling.

The successful candidate will have the following skills/experience:

  • A strong working knowledge of the Children & Families Act 2014, the SEND Regulations and the SEN Code of Practice 2015 and an understanding of The Mental Capacity Act Have detailed working knowledge of the Education, Health & Care statutory assessment process
  • A highly motivated resilient worker with the ability to work under pressure. You will need to demonstrate your ability to work independently in relation to gathering and analysing information, liaising as and when appropriate.
  • You will have enthusiasm to drive the improvement of services for young people with additional needs and be able to organise and manage your work within set statutory timescales.
  • You will be highly skilled in communicating and negotiation.

Pay Rate:  £300 per day.
