Factory manager required, for my well established client based in Leicester

39 hours per week + overtime

The Factory Manager is responsible for the overall efficient and effective operation of the AC/DC winding manufacturing facility.

This role involves overseeing all aspects of production, including planning, scheduling, resource management, quality control, maintenance, and safety.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical expertise in AC/DC winding processes, and a proven track record of driving continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

1. Production Management:

  • Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demands and delivery deadlines.
  • Monitor production output, efficiency, and quality, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Optimize production processes to minimize waste, reduce costs, and improve productivity.
  • Manage and allocate resources, including labor, materials, and equipment, to ensure smooth production flow.
  • Ensure adherence to production standards and specifications for all AC/DC winding products.
  • Implement and maintain a robust production tracking system.

2. Quality Control:

  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive quality control system to ensure products meet customer specifications and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular quality audits and inspections throughout the production process.
  • Investigate and resolve quality issues, implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of quality control procedures and results.
  • Train and supervise quality control personnel.

3. Maintenance & Equipment Management:

  • Develop and implement a preventative maintenance program for all production equipment.
  • Oversee equipment repairs and maintenance, minimizing downtime.
  • Manage equipment inventory and procurement.
  • Ensure all equipment is operated safely and according to manufacturer guidelines.
  • Implement and manage a calibration schedule for measuring equipment.

4. Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Implement and enforce safety procedures and policies to create a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections.
  • Provide safety training to all employees.
  • Manage waste disposal and environmental compliance.

5. Inventory & Materials Management:

  • Manage inventory levels of raw materials, components, and finished goods.
  • Implement and maintain an inventory control system.
  • Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Minimize inventory holding costs and prevent stockouts.

6. Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead, motivate, and manage production personnel.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance employee skills and performance.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Resolve employee conflicts and grievances.

7. Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
  • Utilize lean manufacturing principles and other methodologies to optimize efficiency.
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in AC/DC winding.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience in AC/DC winding or similar electrical manufacturing environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of AC/DC winding processes, materials, and equipment.
  • Experience with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
