Skilled Drainage Operative

Our public sector client is looking for Skilled Drainage Operative on a temporary basis.

Location – LE4 1BZ is a base but would be around Leicestershire.

Pay Rate – £13.93ph – £15.17ph

Skilled Drainage Operative required to support City Highways in undertaking highway drainage improvement and maintenance works.

As Drainage Operative Duties:

1. Able to undertake more complex setting out of lines and levels, including ability to use pipe laser and travellers.
2. Able to undertake deep excavation works using complex trench support systems.
3. Able to undertake more complex works such as construction of deep manholes and reinforced concrete structures, including formwork.
4. Undertakes supervision, mentoring and training of lesser skilled operatives.
5. Able to plan and prioritise work to ensure maximum efficiency & productivity.
6. Able to work to programmes and meet construction deadlines and targets.
7. Ability to determine daily material and plant requirements and inform Site Supervisor / Site Team Leader.
8. Able to use specialist safety equipment associated with working in confined spaces, e.g. breathing apparatus equipment, harnesses, etc.

Skills required:

1. Able to pass “Skilled Drainage Operative Trades Test Assessment” on their own, including practical assessment.
2. NVQ Level 2 in Highway Maintenance or similar.
3. NRSWA Accreditation.
4. CSCS Registration to relevant trade.
5. 5 years experience as Drainage Operative/Trainee in highways and drainage environment.
6. Extensive knowledge of construction specifications, materials, compaction and workmanship requirements.
7. Accredited and relevant H&S Training Records and Certification (e.g. Deep Excavations, Confined Spaces, NPORS plant operator, IOSH working safely, Appointed Person, etc).

Other Requirements:

Wiling to work towards achieving NVQ Level 3 in Highway Maintenance (Operational Works Supervisor) or similar.
