Streetmason Improver

Steetmason improver required to support City Highways in undertaking their highway construction and maintenance works

This is a temporary role initially until November, but could be extended for the right candidate

Overall Purpose  

To:

• Undertake the construction, maintenance, and repair of the highway infrastructure – roads, footpaths, and drainage features, and lay paving materials and tarmac.
• Competently establish safe sites and identify hazards and the appropriate control measures.
• Supervise, mentor and train lesser skilled staff.

In order to apply, you must possess the following:

• Experience working in the construction industry.
• Experience of undertaking ‘Banksman’ duties – supervising excavators and vehicles and following safe digging techniques.
• Follow instructions.
• Interpret instructions and/or drawings.
• Complete relevant paperwork.
• Able to pass Streetmason Improver Trades Test assessment.
• Knowledge of construction health, safety and environmental requirements and safe working procedures and able to recognise hazards and dangerous situations and take preventative measures.
• Numeracy skills sufficient to understand measurements and calculate quantities e.g., areas, volumes, weights.
• New Roads & Streetworks Act accreditation (NRSWA/ Streetworks Ticket).
• CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) Health & Safety Certificate/ Card.
