Becky at JT Recruit would like to hear from you, she is working with a local family run business, who has been established for over 100 years who offer a transport, warehousing and trailer rental solutions around the UK. Based in Ilkeston, this temporary transport administrator will be responsible for ensuring that daily transport and distribution plans are carried out efficiently, safely, and accurately. Act as a key communicator between drivers, colleagues, suppliers, and customers to ensure all processes are followed and any changes are communicated promptly
This Transport Administrator role provides an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, with the chance to support a multinational business in ensuring smooth transport distribution operations. Here’s a breakdown of the role and its key points:
Key Responsibilities:

- Act as the primary liaison between customer services and the transport office, informing both sides of any changes or issues.
- Handle incoming calls, schedule deliveries, and resolve issues promptly.
- Oversee filing and archiving of both paper and digital records, ensuring all records are maintained.
- Perform routine administration tasks to keep the office running smoothly.
- Address and resolve queries from customers and drivers efficiently within the same working day.
- Ensure all documentation is accurate, aligned with procedures, and compliant with company practices.
- Input and update information into the in-house system, ensuring it remains current and accurate.
- Continuously look for ways to improve current workflows and practices in the face of changing circumstances.
- Manage time effectively, ensuring that daily targets and deadlines are met.
- Be proactive in challenging existing workflows and making necessary adjustments.
- Uphold and promote the company’s organisational values throughout daily tasks and interactions.
You will need to demonstrate that you have excellent verbal and written communications skills. Proficient in Microsoft applications, the ability to learn new in-house systems. Your previous experience in a transport related role is essential as well as a good geographical knowledge of the UK.
Hours of work: Monday – Friday 14.30hrs – 20.00 hrs
Pay: £ 14.50 per hour
Ongoing temporary position which could lead to a permanent role for the right person.
