Workshop Technician
JT Recruit are currently looking to appoint a Workshop Technician who will be required to perform the machining of test specimens at the Materials Testing Laboratory based in Derby.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about hands-on technical engineering. We are seeking someone who wants to learn new skills and techniques within a growing and supportive business.
Our client works with a diverse range of industry sectors including oil and gas, aerospace, power generation, petrochemical, automotive, rail, motorsport, general engineering, fabrication, and construction. They are the leading Total Quality Assurance provider worldwide.

A typical working day would be:
Sectioning of received samples for further machining.
Machining test specimens in accordance with required specifications for materials testing and analysis.
Prioritising work in a fast-paced environment
Ensuring the workplace is kept to a high standard.
Daily care of equipment to ensure that it is operating at optimum conditions.
Ideally you would have experience in the industry and have the ability of setting, programming, and operating machine tools to a high standard, although this is not essential and any relevant training to adapt the clients’ specifications will be provided.
A successful applicant will have the following skills:
Good IT literacy skills
Basic machining knowledge advantages but not essential as full training will be given.
Basic knowledge of materials and machining techniques
Experienced in using modern lean tools and techniques.
Although the shift pattern is not rotating weekly, you will have to be flexible to work a shift pattern of:
06:00 – 14:00 & 14:00 – 22:00.
