JT Recruit are currently recruiting for an experienced Stores Person / Storekeeper to join a Nottingham Local Authority service on a temporary basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous stores, warehouse or stock control experience who is organised, reliable and able to work effectively in a busy environment.

The Role

As a Stores Person, you will support the efficient operation of the stores service, ensuring materials, products, plant, equipment and workwear are received, stored and issued accurately and efficiently.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Receiving, checking and signing for deliveries.
• Offloading goods and placing stock in the correct storage locations.
• Accurately issuing materials and products to colleagues and authorised contractors.
• Picking and preparing pre-ordered materials for collection.
• Processing returns and replenishing stock.
• Updating stock records using computerised stock control and barcode systems.
• Undertaking stock takes and regular stock checks.
• Maintaining accurate stock and location records.
• Ensuring stores areas are clean, tidy, secure and safe.
• Providing an efficient and professional service to internal customers and contractors.
• Following all relevant Health & Safety procedures.
• Assisting with the safe movement of supplier delivery vehicles when required.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Previous experience working in a stores, warehouse or stock control environment.
• Experience receiving deliveries, checking quantities and recording goods received.
• Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
• The ability to work under pressure and use your own initiative.
• Good attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• A strong customer service approach.
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, contractors and suppliers.
• An awareness of equality, diversity and inclusive working practices.

A counterbalance forklift licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
